What is Vitrocsa? Vitrocsa is a unique and special system that relies heavily on precision manufacture, assembly and installation of all components. Except for the profiles, every single component of the Vitrocsa Invisible Wall System is developed and manufactured exclusively by a watch components manufactory in Cortaillod (Switzerland) with a precision of a 1/100 of a millimeter, the standard of quality of high-end Swiss watches. How much does Vitrocsa system cost? The sqm cost of Vitrocsa depends on many factors, including size, configuration, system and wind load requirements. What are the size restrictions? Vitrocsa can be built to unusually large size specifications. The maximum size per panel is typically determined by the availability of glass size. Regular dual insulated glass is available in larger sizes. Sliding units with 5 or more panels are possible. With the TH+ system we can do up to 18 sqm per panel of fixed and sliding.
What provides the structural support for such a slim profile system? Vitrocsa is not a conventional sliding door system where the aluminum frames typically provide the structural support. Instead, Vitrocsa is a special curtain wall system that has been designed to be operable, yet with the slimmest profiles imaginable. The Vitrocsa system is based on structural glazing with the glass and not the aluminum profiles providing the structural support of the system. What kind of glazing is available? Vitrocsa typically requires dual insulated glazing for all operable systems since Vitrocsa is based on the principle of structural glazing. The glazing is specially made for Vitrocsa and is typically tempered. Laminated, Low E, low iron and hurricane impact glazing is also available. Who can do the installation of Vitrocsa? Installation of the Vitrocsa system requires more than general window, door or curtain wall installation experience. Due to the uniqueness of the Vitrocsa system, Vitrocsa units should only be installed by factory trained installation experts which Vitrocsa UK will offer. Furthermore, Vitrocsa requires an exceptionally high level of precision for installation for which adequate amount of time should be allocated to. When is the 3001 profile used and when should one use the TH+ profile? The 3001 profile can be used for average size panels. The maximum size always depends on the wind load requirements and therefore no standard size restrictions can be given. However, typically, the maximum height possible for the 3001 profile is around 8’ 6”. Also, the 3001 profile cannot be utilized for operable panel sizes over 70 sqf. For larger size units, we offer the TH+ profile which typically can accommodate any size of glass available. Sliding walls as tall as 15’ have been built. What are the energy values of Vitrocsa and is the profile thermally broken? The Vitrocsa system is thermally broken and has been energy performance tested to NFRC standards with a U-value of 0.28 (TH+ profile) and 0.37 (3001 profile). Is Vitrocsa a new system? Vitrocsa is a proven and tested system that was invented in 1993. Over 1 million square feet of glazing or 25,000 Vitrocsa units have been installed to date in over 20 countries world-wide, without a single failure. Which finishes are available? Vitrocsa’s standard finish is clear anodized (naturally anodized). This finish allows the slim aluminium profiles to blend in well with the glazing, providing an even slimmer appearance. Other anodized finishes as well as Kynar (85 colors) and powdercoated finishes (over 265 colors) are available as an upgrade option. Can the Vitrocsa frames be completely hidden in the wall? Yes, the Vitrocsa frames can be completely buried in the stucco, drywall or other wall types. This exciting possibility allows glazing to span from floor to ceiling, with the slim 3/4” vertical jambs between two glass panels being the only evidence of a sliding system. Can the Vitrocsa thresholds be installed flush with the finished floor? Yes, Vitrocsa’s low track system allows for completely flush installation with the finished floor, even with low foor build-ups. Is the Vitrocsa system weather proof? Originally Vitrocsa system was designed and engineered in the Swiss Alps to withstand the harshest alpine weather. However with 58 partners all over the world Vitrocsa system has been tested all over the world withstanding all kinds of weather without any problems.In addition, Vitrocsa has been installed at numerous coastal locations without any major problems.
